#Blogtober Day 5: Autumn Essentials for Your Horse

Yesterday's Blogtober post was all about layering up the jockey with my essential being baselayers. Today's is the horse version - rug liners.

I find it SO frustrating in the UK with our varying temperatures - every day can be massively different. So a few years ago, I took the plunge and invested in a full stable and turnout wardrobe for Louie with Premier Equine's rug liners.

On the surface, Louie has A LOT of rugs. Reality is not that. He has three - a turn out no fill (for summer showers), a turnout 100g & a stable rug of 100g. Louie will be fully clipped, so how do I keep him snug. Simple. Rug liners.

I have three rug liners - 100g, 200g and 350g. All of which attach to the turnout and stable rugs. This means I can pick daily which weight of rug Louie needs so never risking the over-rugging worry, nor leaving him cold in a field fresh after clipping.

If you haven't considered it, you should give it a thought. Last November I invested in the turnout rugs again due to Louie growing, and posted our thoughts on using this rugging system in the winter.

  1. I've never actually thought of using rug liners before - but I think I'm going to have to invest in some for next season! I have the same problem with the weather where I live too: it's constantly changing so I'm constantly changing rugs and fretting that the horse is too hot/too cold. I think you've found the answer to my problem!
